Resident Evil Village Offers 3rd Person Mode in Upcoming DLC

The winter expansion will roll back the years
by Joe Wilcock on June 18, 2022

Resident Evil Village’s upcoming winter expansion looks set to breathe new life into an already stellar entry in the RE franchise. Shadows of Rose will give players a fresh story with Rose Winters, Ethan’s daughter, at its epicentre. The story DLC will take place 16 years after the original campaign and is sure to contain some surprises and revelations. The PlayStation blog contained more information on what to expect:

“16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village…

Rosemary Winters, Ethan’s beloved daughter, has grown up and is now struggling with terrifying powers. In search of a way to break free from her curse, Rose enters the consciousness of the Megamycete.

Rose’s journey takes her to a mysterious realm where memories of the past return to create a warped and twisted world of nightmares.”

The expansion will also include The Mercenaries Additional Orders. Additional stages and characters will be included with Chris Redfield and Karl Heisenberg entering the fray. Perhaps most exciting of all though is that Lady D will also be made available to play as in this mode!

Finally, the long-awaited return of a 3rd person mode is here. Capcom has announced that players will be able to experience all of Resident Evil Village’s main campaign in the classic viewpoint:

“This will allow you to play the main story mode in a third-person perspective. This new viewpoint will let you see Ethan as he faces off against his enemies. Those of you who are new as well as those of you who have yet to experience Resident Evil Village can experience the story in this fresh perspective.”

Resident Evil Village’s winter expansion launches on the 28th of October for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
